Download Java Runtime Environment For Mac 10.10

If you would like to learn Java programming, the best way is by writing Java codes by yourself. To compile the Java codes then you need Java Development Kit (JDK). It can be Oracle JDK or OpenJDK. This post guides you how to install Oracle JDK 8 on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. It should be also applicable for previous version of OS X such as OS X Maverick, Mountain Lion, and OS X Lion. At the time of this post written, the latest version of JDK is JDK 8 Update 25.

If you just need the latest and greatest, the Java site doesn't need to say it works with Yosemite, just download the Mac version from here. Click to expand. I did click on More Info and it tells me there isn't one Mac OS X 10.10 and this is when using Safari browser or when I turn on my iMac. Note: if you wish to do some Java programming, perhaps using Jim's A.P.I. To process images, then you will need to install the Java Development Kit (JDK), not the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Download the Jim jim-8-installer.jar installer from this link. When the download is complete, drag the downloaded file onto your Desktop.

Basically I previously had written an article how to install Java SE 7 / JDK 7 on Mac OS X Lion. I just would like to rewrite on the newest version.

Many Adobe applications depend on the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for some features to work. Apple recently changed the way it includes Java in Mac OS, and with Lion, Java is no longer preinstalled. It is now an optional install that you must select.

Since current Adobe installers and applications were built before these changes by Apple, Adobe software anticipates that Java is installed. Adobe and Apple have worked together to ensure that you can install Java at OS install time. Or it can be installed later before you install Adobe applications. At runtime, when you launch an Adobe application, you are prompted to install Java if it is not already installed. If you do not install Java before running an Adobe application, there can be missing or improperly behaving features. If you encounter any issues, install Java to correct the problems. Adobe recommends that corporate IT organizations pre install Java (or make sure that Java can be installed through their firewalls/security) to avoid conflicts with Adobe applications.

If the Java runtime is not installed, some issues that are known to occur include -
